Your Love Never Fails

I love finding songs that I can play on repeat.  This is definitely one of them.   Enjoy!

Your Love Never Fails Lyrics

Nothing can separateEven if I ran away

Your love never fails

I know I still make mistakes
But You have new mercies for me everyday
Your love never fails

Chorus:
You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There maybe pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning And when the oceans rageI don't have to be afraidBecause I know that You love meYour love never fails

Verse 2:
The wind is strong and the water's deep
But I'm not alone here in these open seas
Cause Your love never fails

The chasm is far too wide
I never thought I'd reach the other side
But Your love never fails

Bridge:
You make all things work together for my good

It's So Not About Nursing

I remember the first week of nursing school vividly. I was sitting in my Professional Development class that was filled with 100+ eager new students.  The professor asked for volunteers to share why self-care as a student was important.  As the shoot-straight-from-the-hip person that I am, I raised my hand and said “Because there are other things in life that are more important that nursing school.”

For the List Makers

I have to admit, I'm such a list maker.  Accused of being a Type A personality, I go on the defensive.  "No, no.  I'm more of an A-/ B+ type of personality", I'd say.  All the while having a list as long as Rapunzel's hair driving my every moment.  And let's not even get started on the Cheshire cat-like grin that overtakes my face as something gets crossed off.  "Success" I can feel my body saying.  "Now you are safe."  My glory moment lasts for a blink of an eye, and then overwhelm and determination take over once again.  On to the next task.

A Strong Woman vs A Woman of Strength

Stole this from our awesome pastor who closed out our service today with this poem.  I still see so much of myself in the strong woman instead of the woman of strength, but, hey, I'm a work in progress!

A Quick Bible Study - Haggai 2: The Call to Get to Work

Reference - Haggai 2 NLT

The book of Haggai is wrapped up as God gives his people encouragement to complete the Temple rebuild.  He points out to them the obvious - the Temple, as it was now, is nowhere near the glory it once was.  Then God does what he does so often. He reminds them to take courage and not be afraid.

Rest or Rest for Your Souls

So after a long, amazing week with Garry in Orlando, I was sitting in the car on our way back to Atlanta feeling unsettled.  This was bizarre to me -- how was I feeling off after such a great (and much needed) weekend?  Garry and I spent quality time together.  We laughed a ton, slept in, took naps, and even spent a day riding Dumbo and Peter Pan rides at Disney World! I mean come on, that's the life right there.  On top of the fun stuff, we'd just found out that one of our old residents had died a few weeks ago.  She was found laying on the floor of the Equinox gym she frequented in West Hollywood.  She couldn't have been more than 28 years old.  Talk about something that helped put my eyes back on straight.   Needless to say, I felt particularly appreciative of life during our trip.  Of my marriage. Of my family. Of God.  But I could recognize a sense of emptiness on the drive home.

Uncircumstantial

So last week was a pretty exciting week.  I actually landed a summer job as a nurse extern at a local hospital here in Atlanta.   For those of you not in the nursing world, this externship is an 8 week position where I'll be paired with an experienced nurse and hone the mini-nurse skills I've accumulated over the last year. :)  These positions have proven to be more difficult to come by than I anticipated, so I am really grateful that God opened the door for this opportunity.  I have to admit tho - I struggled a little bit with how to react toward this blessing.  I know that may sound bizarre, but just follow me here.

Facebook Depression

On my way to school the other day, a radio announcer was talking about a new study that showed the link between facebook and depression in teens.  The study mentioned that status updates and photos of happy-looking people can make kids feel like they don't measure up.  After I heard this, my immediate thought was "In teens? What about in adults!"

the day of small beginnings

Most of us want to make a difference in the world.  We want want to know that our life counted for something.  That when we die, we will be remembered.   And not just remembered for something minuscule, but for something that was big-time.  Something that changed the world.  At least that's what I hope for my life. But sometimes that desire can be a little disheartening.  Sometimes people just don't give a rip about the thing you're pouring your heart into.

True Fasting

Ever felt that you urgently needed an answer to prayer and were trying everything you could to get    God's attention? In this video I open up Isaiah 58 to find insight for anyone in need of a breakthrough.

lessons from parenthood part 1

I've always heard that a person understands God's heart more deeply after becoming a parent.  While I haven't birthed any children of my own just yet, I do have two beautiful stepchildren.  This weekend, our 7 year old,  Sean, visited.  Because Garry had to work on Sunday, Sean asked to go to GameStop.  We've been in a tough financial situation recently, so I told him upfront that we couldn't buy him games. He insisted that all he wanted to do was read the backs of different games and told me that I could "slap him - but not hard" if he asked me to buy anything.  After I almost died laughing, we headed to the store.

the woman with a million hats

I’m sure I’m not the first woman to feel overwhelmed.  Many of us have a lot of roles to play - mother, wife, career woman, student, child of God just to name a few. I'm not even wearing the mommy hat full time either.  Can't imagine how neurotic I'd be then!
